Brigade Boys and Girls Club Energy Audit PDF Print E-mail

As part of what we hope to be an ongoing project, Engineering for the Earth performed a site visit with the Brigade Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington, NC.

On Tuesday July 13, 2010, Robert Weaver, PhD  and JD Lovering, LEED AP met with Jeff Green, Director at the Brigade  Boys and Girls Club in Wilmington, NC

We spent 3 Hours touring the facilities and discussing operations with Jeff Green.  Our organization is now working a summary report to include 4 sections relating to facility upgrades and improvements.  In this report we will highlight 2 projects where the facility either has allocated or is in the process of obtaining funding.  Our report will then outline short term, small budget modifications that can be implemented immediately with minimal funding.  Finally we will identify more expensive projects that can be implemented as the funding becomes available.

Permeable Paver Site Visit PDF Print E-mail

Engineering for the Earth recently visited an 80,000 sq.ft. paving project being constructed iimg_3266.jpgn North Carolina at M.C.A.S. Cherry Point.  Permeable Interlocking Concrete Pavement (PCIP)  and other permeable paving methods can be more cost effective than traditional concrete or asphalt paving.

Engineering for the Earth was invited to visit this site by CCS, Combined Construction Services, a design/build firm that specializes in hardscape development.  Recognizing the environmental demand for pavement alternatives that meet the growing needs for Low Impact Development, CCS has created a department dedicated to permeable paving.

PCIP users can earn up to six LEED Credits as administered by the US Green Building Council.
